I’ll be beading back to Rothesay, on the lovely Isle of Bute, on Saturday October 8 in the company of pal and author Gordon Brown.

Ah well, you can’t have everything!

Gordon will be talking about his pacy new novel ANY DAY NOW, set in the 1980s, while I’ll be prattling about AN HONOURABLE THIEF, set in the 18th century.

Tickets cost £5 and are available from Print Point, the island’s superb bookshop, although the event will take place in the town’s museum. Which is fitting both for the subject matter of our books and because we are old.
