I’m in Wigtown tonight because I’m taking part in a writers’ workshop tomorrow and couldn’t face getting up at OhmyGod O’Clock to get here in time. So I’m in a very nice place called Hillcrest House – which I’d heartily recommend.

Anyhoo, this week’s foul weather (Really? Snow?) has cleared and it’s a lovely night so armed with my trusty Nikon I went for a wander down to the bay and the Martyrs Stake. This is where two Covenanters were left to drown during the Killing Times. I also had a wander round the old harbour.

Wigtown, of course, is Scotland’s book town and every year it hosts a hugely successful book festival.

It’s a beautiful part of the world, seriously, the views are stunning,  and
