Big weekend ahead.
I don’t mean that in sleazy, barbershop “Something for the weekend” way. Unfortunately.
On Thursday night I’ll be in Glasgow for the launch of Craig Robertson’s new book ‘In Place of Death’. It’s taking place in a brewery, which brings me neatly onto the next event.
This weekend sees the 2016 Stirling Drinking Festival, or, as the organisers prefer to call it, Bloody Scotland.
If you haven’t heard about it – and if so, where hell have you been? – it’s Scotland’s annual celebration of crime fiction, and a wee bit of fact.
It kicks off on Friday and yours truly is in the thick of it because I’m chairing the opening event with none other than Val McDermid and Peter May. The Albert Hall (the Stirling one, not that other one in London) will be packed with their fans. Thankfully, they’re both old hands at this and all I’ll have to do throw in the occasional question.
On Saturday night there is the annual Crime Book of the Year Dinner (my mate Matt Bendoris has been short-listed. I typed that with gritted teeth, which wasn’t easy. I should’ve used my fingers).
Also on that night is what promises to be a somewhat raucous event in The Curly Coo pub, which is already sold-out! Promises to be fun, though.
On Sunday afternoon I’m sharing a platform with Caro Ramsay and Michael J. Malone to talk good guys and bad guys.
There’s lots on across the three days and the entire festival is loads of fun. Naturally, there is a host of great authors appearing – I’ve only mentioned my own events because it’s my blog, so there.
